In my practice, I strive to achieve a natural harmony between the land and the functional and emotional needs of it's occupants. Because of this integration, my projects do not necessarily have one single aesthetic style, but evolve from the nature of the site and a deep collaboration with and respect for my clients ideas and preferences. However, some common themes have emerged during my now 18 years in practice.
What to expect in a PMDA home:
• Efficiency throughout the entire project: in the design process, the choice and use of
construction materials, the stages of construction, the layout of the spaces, and the
ongoing impact of energy consumption.
• Light and airy spaces that engage passive cooling, heating and lighting and maximize
the beauty of living, as only the islands of Hawaii can afford, with our genteel
seasons and relaxing trade winds.
• Outdoor living which expounds on the line between indoor and outdoor spaces.
• Design responses that are specific to your site, region, history and show respect for
your personal ideas and preferences. The design process is guided by my values, but
not directed towards my own subjective design paradigm.
LEED Accredited Professional credentials mean I am constantly striving to be aware of the latest strategies, systems and materials which lead to greater efficiencies and ultimately cost savings for all projects.
